A Career-Immersion Day for the Next Workforce

Manufacturing & Technology Day is a career-immersion day designed to help students identify high-demand, high-wage careers in manufacturing and technology, while giving the companies hiring for those careers a direct line to their future workforce.

The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted this year's event at DSC's Advanced Technology College, alongside the Volusia Manufacturers' Association, the Southeast Manufacturing & Technology Coalition, CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia, and Volusia County Schools. That's a wide bench of partners for one day, which is usually the sign of an event built to actually move students into a pipeline, not just hand out brochures.

Why ServiceIQ Was There

Construction shares the same workforce problem manufacturing does: fewer people coming in behind the ones retiring, and a skills gap that doesn't close itself. About 41% of the construction workforce is projected to reach retirement age by 2031, a projection from NCCER that shows up across the skilled trades broadly, not just on a jobsite. Manufacturing is running the same math on a similar timeline.

Events like this one are where that gap actually gets addressed, in front of students who haven't decided on a career path yet. ServiceIQ set up a booth alongside the other manufacturing and technology companies in the room, talking construction technology and where the industry is actually headed with students exploring what a career in the trades or in construction tech could look like.
